"So that young people don't have to leave Swindon to have hope" WAY Leader, 19

Our Story

In March 2023, as a diverse group of young people from Swindon, we gathered to discuss the needs and challenges young people face. We explored how these could be addressed in an effective and relevant way.

Together we asked the question – what if?

What if there is a WAY to drive lasting change by unleashing the power and potential of young people, and by partnering with the wider community?

We then partnered with Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire PCC, EOTAS Schools and The Great Western Hospital to co-create and deliver long-term projects that address identified needs using WAY’s young person-led approach.

Our momentum continues to grow as we:

Gather local young people and the wider community and…
Partner with health, education, the police and local authorities to…
Co-create and deliver long-term projects that lead to lasting change.

Our Approach

Reaching young people where they are at, meeting practical and social-emotional needs by building long-term relationships and tailoring support to each individual.

Inviting young people into community and belonging by running positive activities, providing safe spaces, and developing a network of support through local partnerships.

Creating opportunities for young people to build skills, gain experience and lead in shaping change, influencing local strategy and practice.
